Before locking Aadhaar Biometric Unlock Aadhar Biometric Lock Online you have to generate your 16 digit VID number because without virtual ID number, Aadhar Biometric Lock or Unlock cannot happen. To get Virtual ID number, type the last 4 or 8 digits of your Aadhaar number and SMS RVID Last 4 or 8 Digits of UID to Aadhaar 1947 in this format. After getting the Virtual ID number, follow the steps given below.
Visit the official site of UIDAI to lock or deactivate Aadhaar biometric. Under the section “Aadhaar Services” you will find the option of “Aadhaar Lock and Unlock Service”. Click on this option. If you want, you can also visit this direct link. Now, read below for further details:
- Lock Unlock Aadhaar page will open, read the instructions and do Next.
- Select the Lock Aadhaar option.
- Fill 16-Digit Virtual ID Number.
- Type your full name which is on the Adhar card.
- Enter the Pin Code which is given in the Aadhaar card address.
- Fill Captcha Code and click on Send OTP.
- Enter the received OTP and submit.
- Now, Accept by Tick Marking “I Understand that after locking my biometric, I will not…”
- Lastly, click on Next.
- This message will appear on the computer screen, “You biometric have been lock successfully”.
Your Biometric Data like fingerprint, iris and face is now completely safe. Now, you cannot do Online Aadhaar Authentications through your Fingerprint, Iris, Face or Mobile Number OTP unless you unlock Aadhaar. To unlock the biometric data, again visit the official site of UIDAI and login to My Aadhar Portal. After clicking on the Lock/Unlock Biometrics portal, you will see two options of Unlock Biometric, click either of these two options to get your biometric data working again. If you do not have a computer or laptop, you can also enable/disable your biometric data through the Aadhaar App on your smartphone.

- Scroll down and Next.
- Select Unlock Aadhaar.
- Fill Virtual ID Number.
- Enter captcha code and send OTP.
- Type the received OTP and prose.
- Now, you will see two options: Unlock Biometrics Temporarily and Unlock Biometrics Permanently.
- Select Unlock Biometrics Temporarily to unlock for some time.
- Select Unlock Biometrics Permanently to unlock forever
- I am choosing the second option here and have to click on Next.
- Now, Tick Mark “I Understand that after unlocking my biometric, I will be able to…”.
- At last, click on Next to unlock Aadhaar Biometric

How To Lock/Unlock Aadhaar Biometric From Mobile Phone
- First of all install Aadhaar App.
- Open the app and login with mobile number.
- Register on My Aadhaar and add your Aadhaar.
- Now, go to the “My Aadhaar” section and type the 4-Digit PIN.
- Scroll down and click on “Biometrics Lock”.
- This message will appear: “Your Biometric is currently unlock”.
- Click on Lock Biometric option.
- Enter your Aadhaar number or VID number.
- Enter the captcha code and request OTP.
- Enter the receive OTP and Verify.
- Congratulations! Your Aadhaar biometric has been lock.
- Now, again click on Biometrics Lock to unlock Aadhaar Biometrics.
- This message will appear: “Your Biometric is Locke”.
- Click on Unlock Biometrics and complete the further process.
- Lastly, after OTP verification, your Aadhar Biometric will be unlock.

Aadhaar card can be lock and unlock by sending SMS and that too sitting at home for free. You will not even need a smartphone for this because you can send SMS from a simple keypad phone as well.
Lock Aadhaar Card Biometric Through SMS:
- To lock Aadhaar biometric you have to send 2 SMS.
- First SMS: GETOTP<SPACE>Aadhaar-Number-last-4-digits
- Second SMS: DISABLEBIOLOCK<SPACE>Aadhaar-Number-last-4-digits<SPACE>OTP-6-digits
- After reading the first message, you have to send the second one because you have to fill the OTP in the second message, which comes after replying to the first SMS.
- Both SMS have to be sent to 1947.
- If you want to lock Biometric through Virtual ID number then send both the SMS given below.
- SMS 1: GETOTP<SPACE>Virtual-ID-last-6-digits
