About Bihar Public Service Commission
According to the history of the Indian Constitution, the idea of holding competitive exams for the appointment to specific positions was first considered in 1853, and a commission to give it structure was established in 1854 under the leadership of Lord Macaulay. The Government of India Act of 1935 later created the Federal Public Service Commission and the State Public Service Commissions. According to paragraph (1) of section 261 of the Government of India Act 1935, as modified, the Bihar Public Service Commission was established on April 1st, 1949, following its split from the Commission for the States of Orissa and Madhya Pradesh.
The Constitution of India was enacted on January 26, 1950, establishing its constitutional standing. According to Article 315 of the Indian Constitution, it is a constitutional body. With its main office in Ranchi, the Bihar Public Service Commission initially started serving the State of Bihar. On March 1, 1951, the State Government ultimately decided to move the Commission’s administrative center from Ranchi to Patna. Shri Rajandhari Sinha served as the Bihar Public Service Commission’s first chairman. The first Commission Secretary was Shri Radha Krishna Choudhary.
