Early life and Education
IAS Pradeep Singh was born on 1 March 1992 in Tewri village in Sonipat district of Haryana. He is the son of Sukhbir Singh, a former sarpanch of the village, and Sheela Devi, a homemaker. IAS Pradeep Singh has an elder brother, who is a mechanical engineer, and a younger sister, who is a postgraduate in mathematics.
He completed his schooling from Shambhu Dayal Modern School in Sonipat, where he scored 85.4% in Class 10 and 81% in Class 12. He then pursued his graduation in computer science engineering from Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology (DCRUST) in Murthal, where he passed with 70% marks.
Career and Achievements
After completing his graduation in 2014, IAS Pradeep Singh appeared for the Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level (SSC CGL) exam and cleared it. He joined the Income Tax Department as an inspector in Delhi in 2016. IAS Pradeep Singh also started preparing for the UPSC exam alongside his job.
He made his first attempt in UPSC CSE 2015 but could not clear the prelims. IAS Pradeep Singh tried again in UPSC CSE 2016 but failed to clear the mains. He did not give up and appeared for UPSC CSE 2017, where he secured the 260th rank and got selected for the Indian Revenue Service (Customs and Indirect Taxes). He joined the National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics (NACIN) in Faridabad for training as an IRS officer.
However, his dream was to become an IAS Pradeep Singh officer, so he decided to give one more attempt in UPSC CSE 2019. This time, he prepared with more focus and determination, and revised his optional subject, which was public administration. He also relied on self-study and online resources, as he could not attend any coaching due to his job.
His hard work paid off when he topped the UPSC CSE 2019 with a total score of 914 out of 2025. He scored 158 out of 275 in the interview, which was the highest among all the candidates. IAS Pradeep Singh also scored 290 out of 500 in his optional subject, which was also the highest among all the candidates.
He attributed his success to his father, who was his main source of inspiration. IAS Pradeep Singh also thanked his mother, siblings, friends and teachers for their support and guidance. He expressed his gratitude to God for blessing him with this.

Personal life
IAS Pradeep Singh is unmarried and lives with his family in Sonipat. He follows Hinduism as his religion. IAS Pradeep Singh is fluent in Hindi and English languages. He likes reading books, especially on history and politics. IAS Pradeep Singh is also fond of playing chess and badminton. He is a fitness enthusiast and does yoga and jogging regularly.
Goals and Vision
IAS Pradeep Singh preferred cadre is his home state of Haryana, where he wants to work for the welfare of the people, especially the farmers and the youth. He hopes to improve the education and health sectors, and promote rural development and social justice.
