Murali Vijay Bio Wiki – Murali Vijay (born 1 April 1984) is a former Indian international cricketer who plays as a right-handed opening batsman. He was a regular member of the Indian Test team till 2018 and plays for Tamil Nadu in domestic 1st-class cricket.
After failing in his 12th class exam and having began playing cricket at the age of 17, Vijay played club cricket in Chennai before he was shortlisted in the Tamil Nadu Under-22 team. He quickly came up the ranks & created his 1st-class place for the Tamil Nadu senior team in 2006. He was one of the top run-scorers of the 2006-07 Ranji Trophy, which was his maiden 1st-class tournament. By October 2008, he went on to act for South Zone, India Red & India A & in November 2008, he was handed his Test place after the team’s regular opener Gautam Gambhir was banned for one match by the ICC.

Murali Vijay was born in Madras, Tamil Nadu. He began his cricket at the age of 17. Vijay 1st played club cricket in Chennai acting for Alwarpet in 2003. He was then picked up in the Tamil Nadu Under-22 squad for the 2004-05 CK Nayudu Trophy. Tamil Nadu Under-22 won the tournament, however, opening the innings, Vijay averaged just 26.45 in 6 matches. He continued to play club cricket in 2005, before obtaining shortlisted again in the Tamil Nadu Under-22 squad for the 2005-06 CK Nayudu Trophy. He failed to impress once again, averaging 26.50 in 3 matches.

Retirement
On 30th January 2023, Vijay declared retirement from all forms of international cricket.
Career
Even though his below-average performances in club cricket and Under-22 tournaments, Murali Vijay was shortlisted in the Tamil Nadu squad for the Ranji One-day Trophy in February 2006. He created his senior cricket place in Tamil Nadu’s last group fixture of the tournament, opposed to Karnataka on 16 February, and scored 17 in that match. He scored 38 in the quarterfinal in opposition to Railways who won the match by one run.
Vijay jump up to fame during the 2006-07 Ranji Trophy, his place 1st-class season, in which he completed as the 3rd highest run-getter of the tournament, only beyond Karnataka’s Robin Uthappa & Bengal’s Manoj Tiwary. At the begin of this tournament, he created his 1st-class place opposed to Delhi and scored a 50 in his place innings. He accumulated a completed of 628 runs at an average of above 52, involving 2 hundreds and one 50. He continued his good form in the 2006-07 Ranji One-day Trophy by scoring 277 runs in 7 matches at an average of 39.57 and a high-score of 112.
Indian Premier League career
Murali Vijay played in the IPL for his home town franchise, Chennai Super Kings till the 6th season of the competition before shifting to Delhi Daredevils. In April 2016, he was named captain of Kings XI Punjab putting back South African David Miller in the middle of the season. He missed out the whole 2017 season due to wrist surgery.
