About Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission
When the state of Andhra Pradesh was created on November 1, 1956, the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission was established. The commission used to be called the Andhra Service Commission, and its rules are based on those of the Madras Public Service Commission. The Andhra Public Service Commission and the Hyderabad Public Service Commission were combined later in 1956 to form the APPSC. On the eve of Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission’s formation, Hyderabad Public Service Commission had just one member and Andhra Public Service Commission had two members and a chairman.
As a result, the A.P. Public Service Commission was established with three members and a chairman. In 1981, the government increased the Commission’s strength to Chairman and five members, and in 1983, the government increased the Commission’s strength to Chairman and seven members. In 1994, the government conducted a second review of the strength and increased it to Chairman and 9 Members.
