Dalai Lama Wiki:- Dalai Lama is the title given to the spiritual and former political leader of the Tibetan people. He is the 14th and current Dalai Lama, born as Lhamo Thondup on 6 July 1935 in Taktser, a small village in the Amdo region of Tibet. He belongs to a farming and horse-trading family, and has seven siblings.
Dalai Lama was recognized as the reincarnation of the 13th Dalai Lama when he was only two years old, after passing some tests where he had to identify the belongings of his predecessor. He was formally enthroned as the 14th Dalai Lama in 1940, and received the name Jetsun Jamphel Ngawang Lobsang Yeshe Tenzin Gyatso, which means Holy Lord, Gentle Glory, Compassionate, Defender of the Faith, Ocean of Wisdom.

Dalai Lama has always been interest in science and engineering since his childhood. He used to repair watches, clocks, and cars when he was young. He also received a traditional education in Buddhist philosophy and scriptures from various teachers and monks. Dalai Lama assumed full political duties as the head of the Tibetan government at the age of 15, following the invasion of Tibet by the People’s Republic of China in 1950.
He tried to negotiate with the Chinese authorities for the autonomy and rights of the Tibetan people, but his efforts were unsuccessful. In 1959, he fled to India after a failed uprising against that Chinese occupations. He established a government-in-exile in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, where he still resides.
