About SSC MTS
The Indian government’s Staff Selection Commission is responsible for hiring people for a variety of positions in its ministries, departments, and subordinate offices. The chairman, two members, and a secretary-in-charge of examinations make up this commission, which is attached to the Department of Personnel and Training. His position is equivalent to that of an additional secretary for the Indian government. Out of the 22 official languages of the Indian Republic, the SSC decided to hold the Multi-Tasking Examination for the first time in January 2024 in 13 Indian languages Urdu, Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Konkani, Meitei (Manipuri), Marathi, Odia, and Punjabi n addition to Hindi and English.
In its 47th report from 1967 to 1968, the parliament’s estimates committee called for the establishment of a Service Selection Commission to conduct tests for hiring lower-ranking positions. Later, on November 4, 1975, the Indian government established a commission known as the Subordinate Service Commission within the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms. The Staff Selection Commission replaced the Subordinate Services Commission on September 26, 1977. On May 21, 1999, the Indian government changed the roles of the Staff Selection Commission through the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and The Staff Selection Commission’s new rules and duties went into effect on June 1, 1999. The Combined Graduate Level Examination is administered annually for the purpose of hiring non-gazette officers for various government positions.
