About ISRO Assistant
The Indian Space Exploration Association expert organization of India, settled in Bengaluru. It is governed by the Department of Space (DOS), whose executive is the Chairman of ISRO and is directly accountable to the Prime Minister of India. India’s primary agency for space-based applications, space exploration, and the creation of related technologies is ISRO. It is one of six government space agencies in the world that has full launch capabilities, uses cryogenic engines, launches extraterrestrial missions, and manages a sizable fleet of artificial satellites.
Recognizing the need for space research, Jawaharlal Nehru established the Indian National Committee for Space Research in 1962 under the Department of Atomic Energy on the advice of scientist Vikram Sarabhai. In 1969, INCOSPAR grew and became ISRO within DAE. The Indian government established a Space Commission and DOS in 1972, bringing ISRO under its purview. Space research in India was thus institutionalized by the establishment of ISRO. Since then, DOS, which oversees a number of other Indian institutions in the fields of astronomy and space technology, has been in charge. Aryabhata, India’s first satellite, was built by ISRO and launched in 1975 by the Soviet Union.
India became the seventh nation to be capable of carrying out orbital launches when it sent the satellite RS-1 into space in 1980 aboard its own SLV-3. ASLV came after SLV-3 and was followed by the development of numerous medium-lift launch vehicles, rocket engines, satellite systems, and networks that allowed the agency to launch numerous deep space missions for space exploration as well as hundreds of domestic and foreign satellites. The GAGAN and NAVIC satellite navigation systems are operated by ISRO, which has the largest remote-sensing satellite constellation in the world. It has carried out two missions to Mars and one to the Moon.
